The most definitive work ever done on evolution is a book called The Evolution Handbook which you should
obtain at your local Christian Bookstore. It is only about 800 pages, but it will thoroughly cover anything that was ever
published by the Institute for Creation Research in California. So I am not going to go into a long discussion on evolution,
but I am going to give you some material on, "How do you find the truth."
The first issue is, "how did everything get here." There are four basic theories on how things are the way
they are now. There are only four explanations for you reading this paper. There are only four explanations for your family
being here or a gas station being on the corner. There are only four explanations for the sun, moon, stars, and the earth
being here. There are only four explanations for all the animals and vegetation in creation. There are only four.
1. The universe came from nothing accidentally. That is the first theory; there are only four. You don’t
have to have a college education to find the truth. You only have four theories with which to deal, and you can deal with
them in less than fifteen minutes.
2. The universe has always been here.
3. The universe is just an optical illusion. It doesn’t really exist; it’s just in your mind.
4. The universe came from nothing supernaturally
(which is the Bible position).
There are no other possibilities.
Do you know why that is so significant? Because three of the possibilities are unscientific. And what is
the standard by which you can judge them as unscientific? You can test all four theories by the Laws of Thermodynamics, which
can be scientifically demonstrated where you can see them.
"Science" is supposed to be a "body of observable facts that can be proven and reproduced under controlled
conditions." The Laws of Thermodynamics can be observed, proven, and reproduced, and have been done so hundreds of times.
If you put all four theories on the existence of the universe to the test of the Laws of Thermodynamics, you will discover
right away that three of the possibilities are just junk.
Now, here are the Laws of Thermodynamics:
1. Energy and matter cannot be created or destroyed. That is called "The Law of the Conservation of Matter
and Energy." That being the case, then the universe didn’t just pop out of nowhere accidentally. You can’t create
matter and energy, and you can’t destroy them. You can change them, but you can’t get rid of them or start them.
One or the other or both have to be already there for you to do anything with them. The universe did not come from "nothing"
2. Available energy continues to lessen in a closed system. That is called "The Law of Entropy." That
is, everything naturally falls apart and goes to pieces. The Law of Entropy flatly denies evolution. The evolutionists will
tell you that "the past is to be interpreted by the present." But the present is always characterized by fragmentation, decay,
and deterioration. Nothing you see is "integrating" or being created. Evolutionists pretend that somewhere these things are
going on. The problem is that you can’t demonstrate them and they are not observable. The word science is supposed to
be a reference to a body of knowledge that has been gathered and correlated from observable phenomena that has been demonstrated
to be factual. Well, there went another "possibility." The Second Law of Thermodynamics says plainly that energy is continually
lessening, so there is less energy with which to work. In a "closed system" everything would eventually "wind up," "give out,"
and fall apart. A "closed system" means that if there is no God, the universe would have all eternity to fall apart and turn
into a gray mush. That can be proved in a laboratory. So the second theory (the universe has always been here) is impossible.
3. Entropy decreases as it approaches absolute zero (459.7 degrees below zero Fahrenheit); at absolute
zero there is no more molecular action and entropy ceases. (That is a mathematical, statistical law because scientists have
no way of achieving absolute zero.) Outside of that possibility, everything falls apart; it never gets better. There is no
increasing complexity in the structures of plants and animals going on now. Matter and energy cannot be created now. And if
that weren’t enough, all expenditures of energy always terminate in decay, deterioration, randomness, and disintegration
Therefore, the first two theories are "fairy tales for grown-ups." "The universe came from nothing accidentally"—that’s
not scientific. "The universe has always been here"—that’s not scientific. The third possible theory for the existence
of the universe is that everything is just an optical illusion, a figment of your imagination. If that were the case, then
nothing could be proven scientifically because nothing is real. There could be no body of facts because there are no "facts."
That is obviously someone on dope.
4. That leaves only one possibility—that the universe came from nothing supernaturally.
There are no other possibilities. Only the last theory could be "scientific."
For the universe to be here the way it is, with the phenomena occurring the way it is going, it had to start
from nothing. But it couldn’t start from nothing accidentally because that defies all scientific laws. Therefore it
had to come from nothing supernaturally—by something that defies the Laws of Thermodynamics and all scientific laws
because it is not subject to them or bound by them.
The universe had to be set up by a "lawmaker" who made the laws and could change them anytime He wanted to
because they are His laws. A watchmaker can make a watch so that its hands go clockwise, but because he made the watch, as
its designer and creator, he can take it and install a little button that when pushed can cause the hands to turn counterclockwise.
He put the thing together according to his laws, and he controls the laws.
From our perspective, when one of the laws of nature is broken, we call it a "miracle." But all a miracle
is, is the Lawmaker temporarily suspending one of His own laws for His own purposes.
That is what modern man can’t stand. He rejects miracles because he rejects God, the Lawmaker. He pretends
either the miracles never really happened or, if they did, that there is a natural explanation for them that requires no Lawmaker
behind them. Modern man’s problem is that there is a Lawmaker, and he doesn’t want to be subject to the Lawmaker’s
One of the Lawmaker’s laws is that as time passes, everything degenerates. The law is that every dispensation
in the Bible ends in apostasy-including the Millennium. You can’t fool around with the Lawmaker’s laws. You can
operate within them, but you aren’t going to change them.
But the Lawmaker is not subject to the laws of His creation. The heavens and earth had a beginning; God does
not. The heavens and earth were made destructible; God is not. He is not subject to entropy; He is eternal life. As eternal
life, He can grant life to those in His creation who have succumbed to entropy.
Did you ever notice in the Gospels that wherever Jesus Christ was, nobody could die? Neither one of the thieves
who were crucified with Jesus died until He was dead (John 19:30–37). The son of the widow of Nain (Luke 7:11–15)
and Jairus’ daughter (Luke 8:41–55) died before Jesus showed up. Both Martha and Mary said, "Lord, if thou hadst
been here, my brother had not died" (John 11:21, 32). Do you know why they said that? Because they both observed that every
place Christ was, nobody could die when he was in His presence.
Do you know what that means from the standpoint of the Twenty-first Century? It means that if you could get
where Jesus Christ went, you would never die. If you go where Mohammed went you’d be deader than a mackerel, and you
won’t come up ‘til you go into the Lake of Fire. Mohammed never had eternal life in him. He never even professed
to have it in him.
"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye
have eternal life" (1 John 5:13). That is God’s nature. "And we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ.
This is the true God, and eternal life" (1 John 5:20).
God isn’t subject to the laws of nature because He made the laws of nature. His nature is different
from that of His creation. That is the only "scientific view" there is, boys and girls, and not another one of the others
will match the laws of science or the laws that God instituted.
"He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life" (1 John 5:12). No Moslem
could possibly get any life of any kind because he declares that God never had a Son; and "he that hath the Son hath life;
and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life."
Christ said that He gave His "sheep . . . eternal life" (John 10:27–28). You’ve got to get outside
the Laws of Thermodynamics to get it. You’ll have to get to a place that is "frozen" (Job 38:30) at absolute zero like
"a sea of glass" (Rev. 4:6), where there is no molecular motion and no entropy. The high and lofty One" (the Lawmaker) is
said to "inhabiteth eternity" (Isa. 57:15). If you can just get there with Him, you won’t deteriorate or fall apart.
If you don’t, you’ll lose your soul and wind up in a state of permanent purification: in a fire
where there are no "germs." If you look at a burning log in a fireplace, you will see a place under that log where the flame
is blue; you don’t have to worry about any germs being there. God has a place for sin; it’s called the Lake of
Fire. Don’t try to prove whether that is true or not. Don’t be a fool; don’t take a chance. Go by the scientific
Laws of Thermodynamics. You are not getting better; you are getting worse. You are not getting younger; you are getting older.
"Prepare to meet thy God" (Amos 4:12). He is the one who promised you "he that believeth in me, though he
were dead, yet shall he live" (John 11:25). He is the One who said, "because I live, ye shall live also" (John 14:19).
Now with atheists running riot these days and false religions taking over right and left, man or woman needs
to sit down for a while and do some thinking about this matter of finding the truth. We proved that there are only four theories
for the presence of the universe—anything in the heavens or earth. We dealt with all four possibilities and showed you
that only one of them is scientific. That is the one given in Genesis.
The realities are that the universe did not get here from nothing accidentally, it has not always been here,
and it is not just an illusion. Those first two violate the First Law of Thermodynamics (neither matter nor energy can be
created or destroyed) and the Second Law of Thermodynamics (things run down and wear out in a closed system—entropy).
The third one isn’t scientific at all and only leads to drugs and the insane asylum.
There is only one theory that matches the laws of physics and any real science: that is the Genesis account.
The rest of the theories are not scientific.
Now, we have in the Genesis account a written revelation which is denied by "science" (1 Tim. 6:20). In trying
to find the truth, you need to ask yourself: "Why do they deny it?" After all, isn’t there a need for a special revelation?
The world says "No."
But if there was a need for special revelation, is there any probability that "God" could give it to you
or would give it to you? Would it even be possible to do this if it was needed?
Let me ask you this: How many things did you have to teach your kid by "special revelation" that he couldn’t
have picked up naturally? I said, "How many things did you have to teach your children - say between the ages of one to fifteen
- that they couldn’t have picked up naturally, all by themselves, with no outside help?"
What makes you think that God and His creation would be any different? If there is a God, would He leave
His own creation in darkness and ignorance if any of them wanted light and truth? The obvious answer is no (read Rom. 1:18–28;
Ezek. 14:1–11; John 7:17). God said if a man is looking for the truth the Lord will give it to him (John 7:17) and if
he doesn’t want the truth he’ll reject it when it is given to him (John 3:17–19).
There is definitely a need for a special revelation.
In the special revelation we see God’s nature. You’ll never get to know it any other way. You
can see God’s works in nature, but where would you go in nature to find out that you could burn forever in the Lake
of Fire if you weren’t born again? That is a special revelation.
Where would you go in the animal world in the natural revelation where you could learn about the value of
prayer? You wouldn’t learn it. You must have a special revelation.
There are some things about which you have to have special revelation. You say, "Like what?" Like life after
death. You cannot observe anything in nature about human life after death. The only thing you can observe is people dying
and getting buried.
That is what Solomon wrote a book on—Ecclesiastes. It deals with life under the sun. The expression
"under the sun" occurs 29 times in that short book. When it came to details of the after life, Solomon didn’t have them.
He did believe in a future judgment and resurrection. He said, "Fear God, and keep his commandments: for
this is the whole duty of man. For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good,
or whether it be evil" (Eccl. 12:13–44). But no one got any details about it until they got a special revelation.
God has revealed Himself in nine different ways since Genesis 1. This means that no man has any excuse for
not knowing that God "is," that He exists (Rom. 1:20, 3:19) and no one has any excuse for not knowing His nature (John 3:19,
15:24; Mark 7:7–9, 13; 1 John 5:13). God has given you nine revelations of Himself.
1) The first one is the natural revelation in the creation itself (Psa. 19:1).
2) Another natural revelation is the conscience (Rom. 2:15). After these come the special, supernatural revelations.
3) Visions and dreams are special revelations found in Numbers 12:6 and Genesis 20:3.
4) God sent angels to give special revelation to men (Heb. 2:2).
5) God spoke directly to
individual men. For example, God gave Noah a special revelation about the Flood (Gen. 6:13–18) he could
not have gotten from nature because there had never been rain before that (Gen. 2:6). God gave a special revelation to Moses
on Mt. Sinai (Exod. 33:11–23). Abraham received a special revelation from God in Genesis 12:1–3 (see Acts 7:2).
6) God gave a special revelation through the written Scriptures (Exod. 24:12; 2 Tim. 3:16).
7) God showing up "in the flesh" in the person of His Son Jesus Christ is a special revelation (1 John 1:1;
1 Tim. 3:16; Heb. 1:–2).
8) The indwelling Holy Spirit gives special revelation to men (2 Cor. 3:18; Heb. 8:10).
9) Prophecy is a special revelation that can’t be successfully duplicated by any other religion on
earth. God uses it to challenge any man to put His words to the test (Isa. 41:21–29, 42:8–9, 46:9–10). It
is the absolute proof that all the other revelations are so.
In the Old Testament, 48 prophecies were given concerning one individual, and they were given 400–2,000
years before that individual showed up. All of them came to pass in history to the last detail. As Professor Peter Stoner,
an expert in statistical probability, demonstrated in his work Science Speaks, the chances of such a thing happening in nature
(by observing nature any time in history, anywhere on earth, under any set of circumstances) are one out of ten with 157 zeros
after it. There are not that many electrons in three universes the size of the known universe. According to the laws of statistical
probability, it is absolutely impossible from a natural standpoint, because if the chances of anything happening is one out
of ten with 52 zeros after it, that event won’t occur. Bible prophecy is a supernatural special revelation.
Through the special revelation of prophecy we learn about two future revelations: the judgments of God during
the Tribulation (Rev. 15:4) and the new revelation of Revelation 21–22, which is the final, complete special revelation
given to people in eternity.
The Bible is a special revelation from your Creator. You cannot learn about God completely from nature. You
have to have Him talk to you. That is why God sent you a Book where He talks to you (Isa. 41:21–24, 42:9, 43:10, 44:6–7,
45:11, 46:5, 9–10).
God never showed Mohammed anything because Mohammed denied all the special revelation given to Moses (Genesis),
Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, John, and Paul. That special revelation said that Christ was "God . . . manifest in the flesh"
(1 Tim. 3:16) not merely a prophet who was superceded by Mohammed.
God never showed Darwin anything because he threw out the special revelation. We are not sure why he threw
it out maybe he was to busy trying to come up with a theory that would put the Lawmaker out of the picture so he wouldn’t
have to feel he wouldn’t have to give account to God for his drunkenness and his immorality.
But that special revelation was available to him. God had a Son, and Mohammed and Darwin rejected Him. God’s
special revelation said Jesus was born in a stable; Mohammed said He was born under a palm tree, darwin says he wasn’t
the son of God at all but a fanatic. The special revelation says Christ died for your sins because He knew that if you didn’t
get a payment for your sins that you would have to pay for them yourself in Hell. Mohammed and Darwin didn’t think they
needed that payment, so they threw it out and said that Jesus Christ didn’t die on the cross, or die for any ones sins.
Mohammed and Darwin rejected the special revelation. Have You?
